The initial consultation is always free! It is very important that the person seeking help be able to make an informed decision. We all have different perspectives and perceptions of our roles in relationships, and in order to feel as though you are getting what you need, it is very important that each person have are able to buy into the methods of counseling that you are comfortable with. Every therapeutic relationship begins with an assessment. I feel honored to give someone the opportunity to share personal information with me to help understand what the needs are. After the initial assessment is completed, the potential client has the opportunity to decide if they would like to begin a therapeutic relationship.
My methods are not always traditional. Although I believe in using an integrative approach to counseling, I also firmly believe in meeting people where they are. Which means, I often will use an experiential approach to help someone discover solutions to some of their biggest struggles.
Group counseling helps individuals discover hidden truths about themselves by being willing to be vulnerable in a group setting. The act of intimacy in a group of other people who are also seeking healing and validation, can have a spiritual experience through a group process. There is not many things in life more powerful than a connection that is made when broken, hurting people begin sharing their stories with each other.
The family is the beginning of all relationships. When the family suffers, each person in the family unit is effected, and sometimes it takes someone from the outside of the family system to help each person see their part of the break down in the the family system. The goal is to help families find ways to reconnect and rebuild the trust that is often lost through codependent patterns in the family system, drug addition and or mental illness.
